Proud and serious, this is the Shadow you all know. He's the Shadow who loved Maria and the one Maria saved on ARK. He's the original who went on to be in SA2, SH, SB, and anywhere else Shadow is featured. Unfortunately, in my world the M1 was killed when the ARK escape pod crashed. He is currently in heaven, enjoying the afterlife with Maria. He had been created in the process of researching immortality and disease resistance, but he was more of a by-product of that research and the orginal plan was to destroy him before GUN discovered him so that he couldn't be used by them, but Maria pleaded for his life and he was given to Maria to be her friend. The M1 contained genetic programming that predisposed him to a life of subservience. Maria was his master.

Project Shadow: Mach II (AKA: Shadow, Shadz, M2)

In my world, the M2 is the Shadow from SA2. After the M1 was destroyed, Professor Gerald used the remains to clone the M2 at GUN's "request." GUN believed that the M2 was being made as a weapon that they could use, but in reality M2 was instructed to be the executioner for all mankind. He was a rush-job and not intended to last any longer than he had to, to carry out his instructions. M2 believed himself to be the M1, not aware that he was a clone. He retained the M1's memories, but they were fragmented and he didn't remember his promise to Maria in its entirety. Since he contained the same genetic programming as his predecessor, he carried out Maria's wishes once he remembered what they were and saved the world instead of destroying it.

After surviving his fall, the M2 was discovered and befriended by Rapha, who affectionately refers to him as Shadz or Shadzie. He has since discovered that he's a clone and allowed Rapha to become his master. Because of failsafe programming, he needs a master to survive, but she doesn't order him around unless it's necessary. They share an unspoken love that's obvious to anyone within a 10-mile radius. Shadz spends a lot of time being sad and depressed because he's insecure and feels he must prove himself to be just as good as the original Shadow, but unless he's fighting for something he really believes in, he tends to hold back, causing to lose more often than not.

Occasionally he does allow himself to enjoy life, usually when there's food around. Shadz loves food, but it doesn't love him. Overeating or eating something he's not used to tends to give him indigestion and terrible nightmares. His sensitive system is due to the fact that he was grown to maturity at an accelerated rate and he didn't develop completely right. This generally doesn't stop him and he will eat almost anything. He likes the attention he gets from Rapha when he's feeling bad, so it's not uncommon for him to play it for all it's worth. Shadz also has a hidden power sleeping inside of him which could destroy him if awakened. This power is the underlying cause of his high metabolism and constant hunger.

Project Shadow: Mach III (AKA: Shadow, M3, Vex-chan)

This is my world's Shadow from Sonic Heroes. He was cloned from the M2 by Eggman (using quills he picked out of one of ARK's shower drains), to be used as a template for an army of robotic Shadow clones. Since Eggman is more of a mechanics expert than a biological expert like his grandfather was, the M3 (or Vex-chan, as we like to call him ^^) is somewhat messed up like Shadz is and suffers from the same weak stomach, but he's too proud to let on when he's in pain and prefers to suffer in silence.

Vex still has his subservience programming somewhat intact and has imprinted on Rouge. At first, she just used him in jewel heists and for other tasks, but with time their affections grew deeper. She's taught him her thieving tricks, as well as a few other skills ^_~ Because Eggman wiped his memories in an attempt to prevent him from betraying him like the M2 did, Vex suffered from amnesia for awhile. During that time, he was a lot happier than your usual Shadow, due to the fact that he didn't remember anything about Maria, but now his memories have begun to resurface in nightmares. During one of these episodes, he became extremely aggitated and took a shot a Rouge with one of her own guns, wounding her wing. After that, he left, gun and all, afraid to return for fear that he might do something worse the next time.

Despite some bad experiences, Vex likes weapons -- weapons and coffee. Unlike his older "brother," he doesn't mind fighting just for fighting's sake. He can be friendly or downright mean, depending on who he's talking to and his mood. He's especially mean to Shadz and enjoys teasing him, but Vex-chan isn't without his own problems. He's very nervous and jumpy and he screams a lot, especially when touched. No one knows exactly why he's like this, but it probably stems from experiences he suffered during a part of his life that he can't remember.

Kiei-sama (AKA: Kiei, Special K, Super K)

Kiei is the force that lies dormant inside of Shadz. He was infused into Shadz by Gerald, at the "request" of GUN, in order to supposedly make Shadz more powerful, but it didn't really work out the way they planned (not that Gerald cared). No one knows his exact origins, except perhaps GUN and they're not talking. Kiei emerges only when Shadz is under extreme, emotional duress -- the type that can only be caused by the fear and desperation of seeing a loved one in mortal peril. Once Kiei has awakened, Shadz' body undergoes several physical changes, including the growth of wings, the development of a demon-like tail, among other things. Just hosting Kiei in his body gives Shadz a very high metabolism, but when Kiei is awake, Shadz' metabolism goes into mega hyperdrive. Since Kiei doesn't feel hunger, he doesn't eat and Shadz' body becomes quickly emaciated and then begins to eat away at itself from the inside. Kiei remains in control of Shadz' body until all but the last drop of energy has been depleted. He then goes back into dormancy, leaving Shadz in a terrible state of internal damage and malnutrition from which he can survive only with help to stop the bleeding and nurse him back to health.

Despite the fact that Kiei looks evil and seems to cause nothing but trouble for Shadz, he's actually a very sweet being. He speaks in an elequont manner and never uses contractions. Shadz and Kiei are one in heart, but not in mind. They can't communicate directly with each other, but what Shadz cares for, so does Kiei. This holds especially true where Rapha is concerned. Kiei refers to her as "Lady Rapha" and he is completely loyal to her even when she wanted nothing to do with him. She has since become fond of him and has started to treat him kindly for the short time he's able to be near her.
